The Brief
Oestergaard’s core mission is to revolutionize the rendering industry by providing cutting-edge solutions for the processing of meat and fish by-products. Despite being a relatively new company, Oestergaard’s team brings over 25 years of experience, positioning them as experts in designing, manufacturing, installing, and servicing advanced rendering equipment. Recognizing the limitations of their legacy data management systems, Oestergaard sought to enhance their data warehousing capabilities to better serve their clients on a global scale.
To achieve this, Oestergaard identified the need for a strategic partnership that could elevate their data handling and user experience (UX) to new heights. They reached out to Experience Digital, leveraging their expertise in data warehousing solutions to redesign and optimize their data infrastructure. With this collaboration, Oestergaard aims to set a new standard in data management within the rendering industry, providing state-of-the-art data warehousing solutions that ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable data processes, ultimately delivering unparalleled service to meet the evolving needs of their clients worldwide.
Our Approach
Taking a greenfield project approach, our team designed a revitalised data warehousing solution from the ground up to meet Oestergaard’s unique needs.
Our task was to transform their initial data management system into a scalable, robust solution that offers a seamless and user-friendly experience. We began with a fresh design, refining data workflows and interactions to cater to various user groups, including Data Analysts, Operations, and Admins.
The original system, built with outdated technologies, had become overly complex and over-engineered. To address this, we reevaluated the system requirements and strategically planned a reconstruction. The new solution embraced a web-friendly technology stack based on Azure Databricks and Azure SQL, aligning with modern industry standards.
The most complex part of the system was the data integration process. Our team re-engineered this by utilising Azure Databricks for efficient data processing and transformation, integrating data from Oracle Netsuite, SAP S4 Hana, and internal employee records databases. The data is then seamlessly ingested into Power BI dashboards via Azure SQL, providing real-time, insightful analytics.
This revamped system is now simpler to update and effectively leverages cloud-hosted services. Modifying a data pipeline is as easy as editing a configuration file, eliminating the need for complex coding. The result is a powerful, flexible, and user-friendly data warehousing solution that enables Oestergaard to fully harness their data and drive strategic decision-making.
The Outcome
Our redesign brought substantial enhancements for Oestergaard. The newly developed data warehousing solution improved the user experience by streamlining data workflows for Data Analysts, Operations, and Admins. The upgraded data integration process guarantees seamless and accurate data flow from Oracle Netsuite, SAP S4 Hana, and internal employee records databases. With the new cloud-hosted architecture, complex coding is no longer a concern, making updates effortless. By utilising Azure Databricks and Azure SQL, Oestergaard can now deliver real-time, insightful analytics through Power BI dashboards, driving strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
